CEW Recycling Group - Recovered Wood

RECOVERED WOOD

Around 10 million tonnes of wood waste arises in the UK each year. Of this, only around 20% is recovered for re-use. The other 80% still finds its way into landfill.

CEW Recycling accepts bulk deliveries of wood for recycling which is complimented by wood separated from mixed waste collections and deliveries from individual, municipal and commercial contracts. Wood is versatile and a valuable resource in many applications. A wide variety of products can be made from recycled wood, including:

  • Fuel for Energy Production
  • Panelboard Production for Construction, Furniture and DIY
  • Play Area Surfacing
  • Mulches, Composting and Pathway Coverings
  • Horse Arenas and Gallops
  • Horse / Cattle Bedding
  • Domestic Pet / Poultry Bedding and Cat Litter

Specific chip sizes and grades of recycled wood are necessary to achieve a quality product. The efficient shredding and segregation of clean recycled wood from contaminants, such as metals, is carried out using modern, commercial machinery, maintained to the highest standards.

Wood is shredded and screened; removing contaminants and creating a consistently sized product for use in panelboard manufacturing and energy recovery.

Recycled wood is ideal for energy production due to the low moisture content.

CEW Recycling recognises this and is committed to supplying fuel for energy production through a state-of-the-art 9mW gasification plant; generating clean, sustainable, carbon-neutral energy for their operations and enough to supply the needs equivalent to 27,000 homes.
